Lombard

Lombard is a quiet suburb due west of Chicago. The historic village center has shops, coffee houses, restaurants, and services. For those looking for more, the south border of Lombard includes Yorktown Mall, with even more retail and restaurant options. Lilacia Park, a public garden and park with more than 200 varieties of lilacs and 50 varieties of tulips, is a standout. It's also the inspiration behind Lilac Time, a multi-week festival in May with a parade, ball, concerts, and arts and crafts fair. Other community events include a celebration of vintage vehicles. The park district supports 450 acres of green space, including a golf course, water park, athletic center, and recreation center. Like the Great Western Trail and Prairie Path Trail, former railroad routes and other bike routes are easy to access from Lombard. The Metra stops in Lombard, making it a convenient place of residence for Chicago commuters.
